Queen's Students for Literacy is a campus-based chapter of Frontier College - an organization dedicated to improving literacy skills and spreading literacy awareness. QSL is based in Kingston Ontario and runs with the help of volunteers from Queen's University

The QSL chapter of Frontier College runs three programs:
Read for Fun:
Working one-on-one with children ages 6-12 to increase their literacy and numeracy skills in community Reading Circles located at various schools, libraries and non-profit organizations within the City of Kingston. The main goal of Read for Fun is to instil a love of reading.
Literacy Outreach:

Working with children and youth to increase their literacy and numeracy skills in local shelters for women, families and youth as well as Immigration Services Kingston and Area (ISKA) multicultural youth groups.

Tutoring inmates one-on-one or in small group settings in an attempt to help reduce recidivism rates. We work within the Kingston at Collins Bay Institution (minimum, medium and maximum security), at Joyceville Institution (minimum security) and Bath Institution (medium security), both located just outside of Kingston. As well, working with youth and adults who have been or are at risk of being in conflict with the law to increase their literacy and numeracy skills. We partner with non-profit organizations and provide programming at various sites.
